Padre is assisting Chevron with decommissioning the former Gaviota Oil and Gas Plant, located on the coast of western Santa Barbara County. Padre tasks have included soil assessment, facility inventory, hazardous materials assessment, and preparation of the Remedial Action Plan (RAP) to address the areas of potential concern. Site assessment activities have included the completion of over 400 drill holes advanced using manual hand auger and Geoprobe® direct-push methods. Soil samples were submitted for chemical analyses to identify areas of potential concern. The soil and materials assessment data are being utilized to develop the facility decommissioning and site remediation scope of work in preparation for future use of the property.
