Tract 1259, San Luis Drive, San Luis Obispo, California
Project Name: Tract 1259, San Luis Drive, San Luis Obispo, California Services: Ecological and Human Health Risk Assessment Client: Chevron Environmental Management Company
A release from former petroleum pipelines impacted soil and groundwater at five residential properties, as well beneath the adjacent roadway. Padre performed soil, soil gas, and groundwater assessment activities to characterize the nature and extent of contamination at the site. The assessment data was used in the preparation of a Human Health Risk Assessment (HHRA) for future onsite residents and intrusive utility workers. The HHRA concluded that the potential for human health risks from exposure to chemicals present at the site are estimated to be within or below the USEPA risk management range for future onsite residents and intrusive utility workers. The HHRA was reviewed and accepted by the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment.
The HHRA was used to facilitate the preparation of a Remedial Feasibility Study (RFS) at the site. The selected remedial alternative was monitored natural attenuation with institutional controls. The California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Coast Region accepted RFS, which Padre is currently implementing at the site.
