Padre conducted a walkover survey for a proposed lattice cellular tower project site at Camp Roberts in San Luis Obispo County, California. The survey was conducted to identify active, potential, and atypical San Joaquin kit fox (SJKF) den sites. The inspection included walking transects through the 3.3-acre project cellular tower site as well as an additional 200-foot buffer to ensure 100 percent visual coverage. All burrows that were at least four-inches in diameter were flagged and mapped, and inspected for signs of SJKF occupancy (scat, tracks, prey remains, hair, etc). A total of three potential dens were located and reported to base staff for further analysis.
