Project Name: California Resources Petroleum Corporation Grubb Lease Decommissioning Project, Ventura County, California Services: Marine Biological Resources Dive Surveys Client: California Resources Petroleum Corporation

Padre completed marine biological resources dive surveys on behalf of California Resources Petroleum Corporation (CRC) in support of the proposed decommissioning of its idle intake and outfall structures located in State waters under the jurisdiction of the California State Lands Commission. The surveys documented the type and location of marine plants, macro-epifauna, and fish associated with the habitats along the offshore pipeline corridors. The resulting data will be used in the final project planning effort, and as a baseline for comparison with post-project marine biological conditions. Additionally, the surveys focused on determining if any sensitive species (i.e., abalone, kelp, or seagrass beds) and resources (i.e., Essential Fish Habitat) were present in order to properly analyze impacts of the proposed decommissioning project under the California Environmental Quality Act.

All Padre divers are certified through the Professional Association of Dive Instructors and National Association of Underwater Instructors. Padre American Academy of Underwater Sciences certified divers oversaw data collection for each scientific dive. Project-specific Dive Plans and a Health and Safety Plan were prepared and approved by CRC prior to dive surveys. Divers used various tools to collect data and underwater Go Pro© cameras to record underwater video and photographs. Divers for this project were also equipped with underwater lights and slates for data collection.
